Five candidates, four Republican and one Democratic, are running for representative of Texas State House District 85. The seat is currently held by Republican Phil Stephenson. Recent redistricting has led to District 85 being almost completely redrawn. The new District 85 includes Jackson, Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Wharton counties and part of Fort Bend County. The majority of Fort Bend County went to District 28.
