West Nile encephalitis confirmed in Sugar Land

A Sugar Land resident has been diagnosed with West Nile encephalitis, the city of Sugar Land confirmed Friday. This is the first case of the West Nile encephalitis virus in 2021 in Fort Bend County. Humans can contract West Nile virus from a mosquito bite. West Nile encephalitis is an infection of the brain that is caused by the virus.
