The Houston-Galveston Area Council received a $1 million federal grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in September charged with leading a regional climate action plan. The first phase of the plan for the 13 Texas counties is being submitted to the EPA on March 1. Grant awardees will work toward a handful of environmental efforts, including reducing emissions. According to the H-GAC’s emission data from 2021, manufacturing and construction industries were the source behind 70% of the region’s greenhouse emissions. (Courtesy Air Alliance Houston)
