Man kills estranged wife, 8-year-old, 3 others in murder-suicide in Fort Bend County, sheriff says

RICHMOND, Texas — A disagreement between a man and his estranged wife led to a deadly shooting in Fort Bend County Saturday, the sheriff’s office said. Five people were killed, including a child and the shooter, Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan said in a news conference Wednesday. Alrick Alphanso Barrett, 46, was dropping off a child at his wife’s home and he asked her mother if he could come in, Fagn said. Barrett asked his wife to get back together and when she said no, he shot her, her mother, his 8-year-old niece, another woman and a man, and then turned the gun on himself, Fagan said. Two other children, a 13 and 7-year-old were hiding in the home during the shooting. They called 911.
