Sugar Land Masonic Lodge No. 1141 members recently recognized Past Master Michael Tunnell with the Grand Lodge’s highest honor, according to a news release. The Golden Trowel Award began in 1990 to recognize Masons who commit time and service over the years and who selflessly display their commitment to Masonry teachers without regard for reward or recognition. A Masonic Lodge can only bestow one of the awards each Masonic year, but they do not have to give the award out if no deserving candidates are present at the time.
