Texas drivers have largely gotten off the hook for hitting and injuring pedestrians in a crosswalk – until now. A new state law that takes effect Wednesday will allow police to charge drivers with a Class A misdemeanor if they hit and injure a person legally using a crosswalk. The charge can be upgraded to a state-jail felony if the person is seriously injured.
